The Role
Our team is growing, and we are looking to recruit a highly skilled Technical Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the technical efficiency, compliance, and operational readiness of the fleet. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to technical fleet management. The ideal candidate will be able to anticipate technical challenges, implement preventive measures, and optimize maintenance strategies to maximize fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Promote and oversee the effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) across the fleet to uphold the highest operational and safety standards.
- Fleet Technical Operations: Supervise and optimize the technical performance, maintenance, and repair activities of the vessels, ensuring seamless operations.
- Planned Maintenance & Vessel Inspections: Conduct onboard inspections to verify compliance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), ensuring vessels operate efficiently and meet regulatory standards.
- Regulatory & Survey Coordination: Monitor and ensure adherence to Class and statutory requirements, planning and supervising mandatory surveys while considering operational constraints.
- Regulatory Updates & Industry Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest Class, Flag, and international maritime regulations, ensuring all vessels meet evolving industry standards and technical innovations.
- Repair & Troubleshooting: Coordinate workshop repairs, develop efficient troubleshooting methodologies, and implement innovative repair strategies to optimize vessel performance.
- Dry Docking & Technical Overhauls: Prepare dry docking specifications, oversee the execution of repairs, and ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Spare Parts & Procurement Management: Monitor spare parts requisitions, ensuring the efficient and timely supply of essential components to support fleet operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: A University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture and/or a Marine Academy degree.
- Seagoing Experience: Relevant sea experience is required. Candidates with any level of sea experience, including short-term assignments, are encouraged to apply.
- Office Experience: 2-4 years of well-established experience in a similar office-based role.
- Industry Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of tanker HSQE regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of Class, Flag, and international shipping regulations.
- Technical & IT Skills: Adequate proficiency in PC applications and Danaos software.
- Language Proficiency: Strong command of the English language.
- Personal Attributes: Strong team spirit, problem-solving abilities, and professional integrity.
