The Role

Our team is growing, and we are looking to recruit a highly skilled Marine Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that vessels operate in full compliance with international regulations, industry best practices, and company standards. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to fleet performance and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Industry Standards: Ensure that assigned vessels comply with SMS, SIRE, TMSA, and international maritime regulations, maintaining industry-leading operational standards.

  • Pre-Vetting Inspections & Audits: Conduct pre-vetting inspections and onboard assessments to prepare vessels for external inspections, ensuring continuous regulatory compliance.
  • Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Conduct investigation reports and root cause analysis for any safety or operational deficiencies, implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Deck Maintenance & Performance Oversight: Monitor deck maintenance schedules, structural integrity, and vessel performance to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the budgetary aspects of vessel management, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Vessel Documentation & Reporting: Maintain HVPQs, Q88s, and PIQs, ensuring up-to-date and accurate vessel documentation.
  • Spare Parts & Inventory Monitoring: Monitor and oversee requisitions for spare parts, paints, and stores, ensuring inventory levels align with vessel performance and maintenance needs.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Establish and maintain strong communication with oil majors, industry consultants, and port authorities, representing the company professionally in all interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Educational Background: Former Master Mariner with sea-going experience in Clean Petroleum Products (CPP) and Dirty Petroleum Products (DPP), or a minimum Chief Officer background.
  • Office Experience: At least 2 years of office-based experience in a similar role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine operations, safety management systems, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Technical & IT Skills: Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Danaos software.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication skills, particularly in dealing with oil majors, regulatory bodies, and consultants.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong team spirit, problem-solving abilities, and professional integrity.
