ENESEL Group based in Athens, Greece, presently operating a diverse fleet of 29 modern high specification tankers/containers and bulk carriers is currently looking for a highly motivated full-time HSQE Superintendent to provide support to the HSQE Department.
All existing vessels are constructed to the highest international standards in first-class shipyards. The entire fleet is chartered to high profile charterers and operators mainly on time-charter basis.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Documentation and Compliance
- Oversee the ERP suite for HSQE department operations, ensuring compliance with ISM and ISO standards.
- Manage the electronic and physical filing of departmental records.
- Monitor HSQE legislation and emerging requirements, ensuring timely updates to the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Assist in the periodic review, updating, and distribution of IMS documentation, ensuring procedures are effectively implemented and maintained.
Audits and Inspections
- Conduct internal audits on vessels and ashore and support external audits in compliance with ISM, ISPS, and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
- Follow up on third-party inspections, including SIRE, RISQ, and Port State Control (PSC), to ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Provide updates on SIRE 2.0 prerequisite documentation.
- Support the implementation and adherence to TMSA and Dry BMS guidelines.
Incident and Risk Management
- Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and follow-up actions to address root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Apply and maintain cybersecurity provisions as per the Maritime Cyber Security Management (MCSM) manual.
Reporting and Performance Monitoring
- Monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for HSQE-related activities, ensuring timely data collection and reporting.
- Review vessel operational expenses (OPEX) related to HSQE on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare detailed HSQE reports for top management and draft minutes for Management Review Meetings (MRMs).
Safety and Environmental Excellence
- Collaborate with other departments to prepare the quarterly safety magazine.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence across all levels, both on board and ashore.
Coordination and Support
- Assist with special projects, corporate reporting and other tasks as directed by senior HSQE leadership.
- Follow up on departmental objectives and measurable targets.
Additional qualifications/requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Previous sound experience in a similar HSQE role within the maritime industry.
- In-depth knowledge of ISM, ISPS, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001), TMSA, and Dry BMS guidelines.
- Certification as an internal auditor for ISM/ISPS/ISO standards is an advantage.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, ERP systems, and other professional software.
- Tech-savvy with a comfort level in using technology daily.
- Strong report-writing and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a collaborative mindset, accountability, and a proactive approach to developing solutions and alternatives.
- Strong self-drive and a genuine interest in the nature of the job.
- Ability to travel and attend vessels regularly for inspections, audits, and other HSQE-related tasks.
- Capability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail paired with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- An environmentally conscious mindset with a focus on sustainability.
