Dorian LPG Management Corp.

Dorian LPG, a liquefied petroleum gas shipping company and a leading owner and operator of modern very large gas carriers, is seeking to employ a Training Officer who will be responsible for sea and shore-based training.

The ideal candidate should hold a University-level degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and have at least 2 years of experience in the same position in a Maritime Academy or LPG/ Tanker company.

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication and leadership skills, good knowledge of regulatory tanker seafarer certification and training requirements as well as high organizational abilities and proficiency, with common MS Office applications, are also required.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Discussing, identifying, and analyzing crew & employees training needs with departmental managers and human resources officers.
  • identifying the costs involved, keeping to the budget, and devising annual training plans.
  • planning the details of courses, setting up a program, and developing training materials
  • choosing the best method to deliver each course (lectures, videos, role-play, group discussion, etc.)
  • delivering training courses to members of staff
  • hiring outside speakers and trainers where appropriate
  • auditing training providers
  • using interviews, questionnaires, or discussions to assess how effective a training course is
  • assess trainees and assist in their development.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry standards and requirements and revising courses to suit the changing needs of the company.

Experience in AMOS2 software will be considered an asset but is not required.
